Backstage

Backstage is located next to the Loony Bin Comedy Club at 6140 E. 21st St. N..

They play Monday at 7pm and Wednesday at 7 pm & 10 pm.

The prize for the 7pm Wednesday game has changed from $100 for first place to $70 for 1^st, $20 for 2^nd and $10 for 3^rd.

The prizes for the 7pm Mon game are $40 for 1^st, $10 for 2^nd.

(11-29-06) From Backstage: For the next four months the winner of the 7 pm game on Monday and Wednesday will be invited to a tournament on march 12th for a chance to win a trip for two to Las Vegas sponsored by Air Capital Travel.

We started the event on Monday November 20th. The two dates that we will not be playing on our Christmas day and New Years Day. The tournament guidelines are the same as the have been.

On Monday's it is a five dollar pizza buffet charge with a cash prize and on Wednesday there is still $100 in cash given out for the first game. Official Details Here

(08-07-06) A report from P. S. Announced a change in their Monday night format effective Aug. 7. They will be offering a buffet for $5. If you purchase a buffet, you can play poker. Prizes are supposed to go up, but it wasn't mentioned what the prizes would be. Wednesday night format is unaffected.

(05-15-06) A report from P. S. Monday nights are paying $40 for 1st and $10 for 2nd. No second session until more people start coming.

(05-06-06) Backstage Update:

1.) Backstage is now playing 7 pm on Mondays.

2.) They are changing the early start time on Wed from 7:30 pm to 7 pm.

3.) They have changed the 7pm Wed prize from $100 for first place to $70 for 1^st, $20 for 2^nd and $10 for 3^rd.

(09-01-05) A report from P. S. Backstage pays $30 for 1st, and gives prizes for 2nd and 3rd. Dan talked about a benefit for Leukemia at Backstage the Monday after Labor Day, with a suggested donation of $25, and a prize of a trip to Vegas for two.

(08-25-05) A review from P. S. I played the 7:00 tournament. The club is fairly modern and clean. High ceilings help with smoke. We had four tables of 6-7 to start. You seat yourself. Some of the tables don't have a place to put drinks which leads to spills. Play wasn't much different as far as skill level
than I find anywhere else.

(05-28-05) A review from I. S. The Backstage, basically at 21st N. & Woodlawn next to the Looney Bin, plays on Wednesdays for $50. They play at 7:00pm & 10:00pm and pay out both sessions.

The players are fairly all decent people but not that good of Texas Hold-'Em players, with the exception of a few good players. Most of the players were college age, and a lot of them are not from the U.S.A. There are usually 6-8 tables full, with about 6 or 7 at each table. The table I sat at had 2 local guys and a couple of guys from Albania. One of the guys was a complete jack-ass, not as a person, but as Texas Hold-Em player. He did make me laugh because of his Napoleon Dynamite appearance and attitude, though he wasn't trying to act like Napoleon, the guy was just really that goofy and not the smartest. It was fun.
