Poker Pages news report on Kandu

Differences between Kandu and Standard Texas Hold em.

1.) There are no blinds or forced bets.  Instead of blinds there are ante's to play each dealt hand.
2.) There is no table rake. There is a time based table fee, usually $2-$10 per 1/2 hour to sit at the table. (Depending on venue)
3.) There is no unknown or randomness.  Prior to the beginning of each hand the entire deck is displayed face up for several seconds.

Kandu at the Hilands will start around 11 am and go for a few hours and then restart around 7 pm.  The Hilands have a table fee of $6 per 1/2 hour.

The Hilands/Blue Collar Poker

The Hilands is a gastropub/restaurant located at 3731 North Rock Road - Wichita Kansas (316) 260-6155.  The people involved with The Hilands are the entrepreneurs from The Amateur Poker League.

They created the concept of free to play/$10 chair rental/fixed prize legal poker tournament (Blue Collar Poker).

They created and are the originators of Kandu.

Pending the outcome of the September 8th trial, The Highlands has stopped playing Kandu.

The Hilands is hosting Blue Collar Poker tournaments at 2 pm & 7 pm.

They morning games are typically have 3-5 tables of players.  Players can play for free and stand/kneel or they can pay $10 and rent a chair.  In a recent tournament that I played in, there were 5 tables of players with two people choosing to not to rent a chair.

The games that have a $200 prize pool and pay $100 for 1st, $60 for 2nd and $40 for 3rd.  Players start with $10,000 in tournament chips and the blinds advance every 30 minutes.

No information currently on weekend games

The Friday evening, Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon games have considerably (double/triple/quadruple) more players than the morning games.  The prize pool is larger ($400-$1000) and the blinds advance every 20 minutes.
