Merle's is located at 440
N. Seneca, (263-0444). Merle's plays No Limit
Texas Hold-em poker with the following schedule Mon 6:30 pm. I dropped in once to play
here but the house was packed. If you
decide to play you had better show up early. (11-20-07)
An update from P. S. Merle's has changed to chair rental
effective this week. $3 rental fee -
money is split between first and second place - didn't say in what
ratio. Third place wins a $25 gift certificate. Limited to 5 tables of 6 = 30 total players
(at least that was the limit in place tonight). (08-07-07) I have a report from P. S. that Merle’s has dropped poker on Sundays (07-16-07) An update from P. S.
Merle's
has recently started Sunday poker. They have sessions at 3:00 and
6:00. Sunday poker is being handled separately from the Saturday/Monday
tournaments. Session prizes are: 1st-$25 gift certificate, 2nd-$15
gift certificate. Sunday points are earned as follows: 1st-25,
2nd-15, 3rd-10, 4th-5, 5th-3. Top points earners will play a finals
tournament with the following prizes: 1st-$100, 2nd-$75, 3rd-$50,
4th-$25 gift certificate, 5th-$15 gift certificate. (06-14-07) A review from Doc. Played at Merles on a Saturday night. Crowd
was friendly. The table that played at was enjoyable and I had a good time.
Food was good and service excellent. (01-22-07) An update from P. S. They allow five tables of seven to
play. They do not allow
alternates. Session prizes - 1st-$50
gift certificate; 2nd-$25 gift certificate. The top 30 in points will play a
finals tournament on Sat. Feb. 3. Points are earned as follows: 1st-25, 2nd-15, 3rd-10, 4th-5, 5th-3. The finals prizes
are: 1st-$250 cash, 2nd-$150 cash,
3rd-$75 cash, 4th-$50 gift certificate, 5th-$25 gift certificate. Also, the point’s leader at the end of the
preliminary sessions wins a chip set. (02-27-06) An update from P.S. I dropped by a few days ago to
see if they had a handout like they did before. They didn't. They still play Saturday at 7. I talked to the bartender briefly - he
wasn't too eager to share information.
He said it was an in-house thing, which I took to mean he thought
their tournaments were for their regular customers. Whether that represents the viewpoint of
the owners I have no idea. Apparently
they are accumulating points toward some bigger tournament or prize but
didn't get the specifics. (09-26-05) A review from P. S. I enjoyed playing at Merle's
Saturday September 24. The game was so friendly it was hard to remember
you were playing for anything. Shortly after I sat down people started
introducing themselves. I brought a friend who had never played Hold-em before and he fit right in. The club has some
nice old woodwork including some high-back booths. Glancing at the menu
showed a good selection of sandwiches and salads, and they also serve
enchiladas. (09-14-05) A report from P. S. Merle's

November 12. Session prizes: 1st-$50
