Spirits Pub is located at 231 E. Main, Suite B, in Valley Center. Spirits Pub is hosting Texas Hold-em poker every Wednesday evening at 7 pm. The game at Spirits is run by the people who used to run Aces Poker League. The game is free to play or you can rent a chair for $15. The starting chip stack is $20,000 and you can buy up to 5 additional $1,000 hips to tip the dealer. Blinds last 20 minutes. When I last played, the quality of play was better than average. There were two full tables, play lasted till 10:30 pm. They paid the top 3 spots, and winning the tournament paid $80. The only problem I noticed was that the Tournament Director also played in the tournament. And even though he was among the first eliminated, there was one improper moment which was to his benefit. The TD bet on the river and the table folded around to the person on his right, who stopped and was thinking, while the person on his right was thinking the TD mucked his cards. After the TD mucked, the other player mucked his cards. The pot was awarded to the TD, an improper ruling. © 2005-9 Wichita Poker Review |
