(03-12-07) Update:  I recently visited the Cherokee poker room (for the first time) and played in their Wed $120 NLH event.  When I sat down I had $1,000 in tournament chips and was already the short stack.  The Cherokee has a bonus program, 1 hour of live play gets you an extra 1,000 in tournament chips, everyone at my table had at least $4,000 to start.  I was made aware of a bonus available for 1st time players of $3,000 tournament chips which I used.

The easiest/cheapest way to get 3 hours of play and thus an extra $3K would be to play $1/$2 No Limit and play very tightly.

There were around 100 players.  Money was paid to 12 places.  Blinds were 20 minutes long.  I went out after the 2nd break at $400/$800 level with about 35 players remaining.  I found the level of play to be slightly higher but very similar to Blue Collar Poker.
