Central Oklahoma Poker Room Tournament Calendar (Oklahoma City & Central Oklahoma)

(03-11-07) I recently visited the Firelake Grand casino, and found it to be the most Vegas-like of any of the Oklahoma casino’s I’ve seen.  It is large, for Oklahoma, small by Vegas standards and shames other Oklahoma casino’s by comparison.

I played in a Seven Card Stud Twisted Tuesday poker game.  They had 4 tables of players and finished in the middle of the pack.

The next day I played in the first table that opened up a $3/$6 Limit Hold-em.  I found the table too tight to overcome the rake.

I’ve read repeated that winning at low stakes limit hold-em is very hard because rake, as a percentage of the pot is higher than with higher limit games.  I also tend to think that people playing at 10:00 am, in the first game of the day are very good poker players, and thus better to avoid.  If given a choice next time I will wait for the second table as it more likely to be a loose game with bad players.
