(06-10-07) A review from R.K. I visited the poker room at Harrah's North Kansas City Monday, June 4. The approximately 15-table room had ample
friendly staff and stayed open as long as the main casino did (5:30am). Table side food service was available. A dealer told me that the dealers do not
rotate throughout the casino and just work the room. A monitor was displayed for those waiting
to play to see how many tables were being spread and with which games, as
well as the length of the waiting list.
Disappointing was that the only games spread were $3-6 limit hold'em
and two types of buy-ins for NL games.
$1-2 and possibly $2-$5. I
played three different sessions, one mid-afternoon, one evening after the
nice 40 person 7pm $30 tournament, and one until about 2:30am. Play at the limit game, my interest, was in
general passive loose pre-flop but even more passive loose post flop. Aggressive players trying to play with
moderate to moderately strong hands and didn't attend to players quickly went
broke. During the earlier two sessions
several tables of each game could be found.
Even at 2:30am there was a limit game and couple NL games to be
had. I found the two early sessions
were populated with plenty of fish, ya just needed to play solid, positional,
trapping poker to be successful. Some
tired players in the late session missed bets and overcalled to their
detriment. Overall, disappointing in
terms of games available (no Stud, Omaha,
etc.) but a profitable place to play for a limit player.
